Call For Nominations

December, 2011

Dear Friends,

The Philadelphia Award is among the most cherished, meaningful and prestigious awards conferred in, by and for the Philadelphia community. Founded in 1921 by Edward W. Bok, the award is given each year to the citizen(s) in the Philadelphia region who, during the preceding year, has or have contributed an outstanding service or completed a body of work, which advances "the best and largest interest of the community." The award carries with it a prize of $25,000.

I am writing to you on behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Philadelphia Award to ask for your help in nominating a candidate for the 2011 award to be conferred in Spring 2012. Enclosed is a brochure that includes the nomination form and more detail about the Philadelphia Award and its rich history.

As one of the respected leaders of Philadelphia, you undoubtedly know of colleagues and neighbors within your community who are worthy of consideration. We ask you to help us by describing the nominee's accomplishments on the nomination form and attaching any supporting materials and biographical data you find pertinent.

The contribution of each nominee will be thoughtfully considered with emphasis on the lasting effect of the contribution. We know you are called on often to help shape our city and its future. Participating in the nomination process is further evidence of your generous service to our city and its leadership.

Please submit the online form by January 31, 2012.

Thank you for your consideration and all that you do for Philadelphia.

Sincerely,
Susan E. Sherman
Chair
